| Stephen Slawek is Professor of Music (Musicology/Ethnomusicology) at The University of Texas at Austin. He began to study sitar in 1969 with the late Dr. Lalmani Misra, eventually receiving the M. Mus. (sitar) and a gold medal from the Banaras Hindu University. In 1977 he was accepted as a disciple by the world renowned Pandit Ravi Shankar in the traditional thread tying ceremony |
