Ananda Gopal was born in a music-loving family settled in Uttar Pradesh. Ananda Gopal is a world-renowned tabla player today. He was initiated to music by his father late Radha Gopal Bandopadhyay, an amateur vocalist.
Initiated into music by his father, Ananda Gopal Bandopadhyay was later trained by Pandit Mahadeo Prasad Mishra of the Benaras gharana. A top-grade artiste of All India Radio (AIR), Ananda Gopal has had a brilliant and successful career as an excellent Tabla player. He is adept both as a soloist and as an accompanist. He is a widely travelled artiste. He has played the Tabla with virtually all the leading performers of Hindustani Classical Music at festivals all over the world.
Apart from his Tabla performances, he has been associated with prestigious organisations like the Song & Drama Division (Delhi), Faculty of Music & Fine Arts (Delhi University) and the Amir Khusro Society, Chicago. Ananda Gopal is a senior Faculty member of the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata.
